QPIRG serves as an umbrella organization for student-initiated
organizing for social and environmental causes. We distribute bi-weekly
discretionary funding to events and causes that could not find support
anywhere else. Our resources and support have helped incubate numerous
Working Groups, many of which have gone on to become SSMU clubs and
services that provide invaluable resources to McGill students and
community members.

Since 1988, when McGill undergraduates voted overwhelmingly to establish
our own chapter of the PIRG network, QPIRG has survived on just $3 per
semester and created an impressive legacy of social justice organizing
and mobilization both on- and off-campus.
The Plate Club, the Black Students Network and the McGill Global AIDS
Coalition, among MANY other features of campus life with which you may
be familiar, all began as QPIRG Working Groups. QPIRG also continues to
organize Rad Frosh every year - an important alternative orientation for
incoming students that gets more popular every year.
Since inception in 1988, our programming has greatly expanded even
though our fee has remained the same. If it were tied to inflation,
QPIRG's fee would have risen to $4.84! Cognizant of financial pressures
facing students, QPIRG is asking for only 75 cents more, and is
committed to an accessible out-out system for those who need it.
WHY ONLY 75 CENTS? Because we're just that good! We're efficient and
those extra 75 cents, which couldn't even buy an individual student a
chocolate bar, can make a big difference on campus when pooled collectively!
QPIRG NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Your vote in favour of our FIRST fee increase in 20 years of history is
VITAL to continue our support of Working Groups, Rad Frosh, the School
Schmool handbook, Social Justice Days, Culture Shock and, of course,
bringing big-name speakers to campus.

Depuis 1988, les étudiants de McGill ont affirmé leur appui pour GRIP-Q,
le Groupe de Recherche d'Intérêt Public du Québec à McGill (une
organisation étudiant indépendante a but non lucratif) en offrant un
frais de 3$ par semestre. L’effet de l’inflation a beaucoup réduit
l’efficacité de ce frais.
En même temps, GRIP-Q a réalisé une forte augmentation de notre
programmation (les intervenant(e)s, les ateliers, Rad Frosh, le nombre
et la variété des groupes d’action). Ce sont les raisons pour lesquelles
on demande aux étudiants de voter oui pour une augmentation de 0.75 $
dans notre frais. Si notre frais avait été relie à l’inflation, le
niveau actuel aurait été 4.84$!! Nous affirmons qu’un système accessible
pour « opt outs » devra continuer d’exister comme maintenant.
